Baltimore County Restaurant Week – Mari Luna Latin Grille

by Jenny on January 18, 2013

Last night Brian and I joined our newly engaged friends for dinner at Mari Luna Latin Grille. It’s Restaurant Week here in Baltimore County which means that a lot of awesome restaurants offer a prefix menu including three courses for just $30.13.

An appetizer or salad, an entrée and dessert for just $30.00 at the majority of these restaurants isn’t a bad meal deal!!

I had been to Mari Luna once before and really enjoyed the food so I was hopeful that their prefix menu would offer some wonderful selections and that our meal would turn out just as delicious as I remembered, especially since I had been talking up our location of choice.

We started the meal with their huge fried dough rolls.

Flaky on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside!

Mari Luna’s prefix menu selections also included a glass of house wine or sangria and going off of my past visit, I jumped at the red sangria option.

So good! Not too sweet or too tangy – the perfect mix!

For my appetizer selection, I went with the house salad.

Ensalada de la Casa
House Salad made with mixed Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, Palmitos, Red Onions, Queso Fresco, Avocado and served with Jerez Vinaigrette

I also had two bites of Brian’s nacho appetizer.

Nachos Especiales
Four Corn Tortilla Discs covered with Cheese & Fried Black Beans two topped with Shrimp, & two topped with Skirt Steak, served with Guacamole, Pico de Gallo and Sour Cream.

It didn’t take me long to decide on an entrée once I saw the paella was an option.

Paella de Marisco
A classic Spanish Seafood and Rice dish made with Shrimp, Scallops, Clams & Mussels

While Brian went with the stuffed pork.

Lomo de Puerco Relleno con Plátano, Nuez y Manzana
Roasted pork loin stuffed with plantains, walnuts and apples, served with a creamy cherry wine

Both dishes were amazing but the stuffing in Brian’s pork was phenomenal. Even though I am a huge fan of seafood and paella, I would have hands down traded dishes with him in a heartbeat just for that stuffing!

For dessert, we both obviously ordered different things so that we could get a taste of two options.

Vanilla Creme Brulee for me.

And Tres Leche for him.

Both were really good but with how fast Brian gobbled his up after only offering me two bites, I think his was the winner!

Overall, a great night with wonderful friends, tasty food and a total meal deal!
