Wedding – The Bride’s Attire

by Jenny on January 10, 2013

One of the best parts of planning our wedding was picking out the attire for not only Brian and myself but also for the rest of the Bridal Party. I absolutely loved being able to plan the look from head to toe!

I plan to recap the attire for the entire Bridal Party but let’s start with the Bride!

The Dress (Something New)

My dress was the “Ambrosia” dress, designed by Maggie Sottero, in Diamond White.

It had basically every feature of a wedding dress that I was looking for with the beading detail at the top, the corset back, the ruched midsection and the gathered, long train.

I couldn’t have been happier with my choice!

The original style of the dress had a strapless top, however, since I really liked the look of a one-strap dress while trying on other wedding dress samples, I asked the seamstress at Betsy Robinson (where I purchased the dress), if we could make some alterations to add a strap. We ordered extra flowers, like the ones that were sporadically placed on the bottom of my dress, and from them she was able to design a removable strap that I could add to my dress.

I absolutely loved the look of the strap and wore it for pre-ceremony pictures, the ceremony and post-ceremony pictures at the church before removing it to show off the original design of the strapless dress for the rest of the day!

The Veil

My veil was a cathedral length veil with a blusher.

I knew I wanted to wear a blusher for a few reasons:

  • I like the way it looks and love the “revealing of the Bride” by her father.
  • I wanted to be able to contain my blazing red face as I walked down the aisle since I knew I would be blushing like crazy with everyone’s eyes on me!

The cathedral veil was something that my mom had wanted me to get and I was happy to appease her taste as I thought it flattered my dress and really filled the aisle of the church. However, I was more than happy to get it off post-ceremony! I actually had it out of my hair before Brian and I reached the end of the aisle on our way out!

The Shoes

From day one I knew I wanted pink shoes to wear with my wedding dress and as soon as I spotted these particular hot pink ones, I knew they were the ones.

I loved the bows on the back and the rinestones on the heels!

Brand: Bourne
Style Name: Hannah
Color: Cerise

The Earrings

I knew the exact look that I wanted for my earrings and when I saw them on my bridesmaid, Diana, at another wedding in June, I instantly asked where she had purchased them! Lucky for me, she was kind of enough to gift me a pair to wear on my big day!

Classic, elegant earrings with sparkle and a hint of a dangle!

The only other jewelry I wore on the beside my engagement ring and new wedding band was my mom’s sapphire tennis bracelet.

The Garter (Something Blue)

My garter and toss garter were presents from Noah and Grace!

They did a wonderful job picking them out and the toss garter was my “something blue”!

To round out the famous rhyme, my something old was a handkerchief that my mom had pinned in her wedding dress on her wedding day in 1973 and that my sister had in hers in 2008 and my something borrowed was my wedding day purse from my friend, Rain.

Next up in the wedding day recaps: More Attire Details: The Tuxes
